Two AK47 rifles have been recovered from seven arrested cattle rustlers in Katsina State who the police described as armed robbers and kidnappers.

According to the police spokesman in Katsina, DSP Gambo Isah, the gang was busted by officers acting on a tip-off.

Isah told NewsmakersNG that the gang had been terrorizing Safana, Kurfi and Dutsinma LGAs of Katsina State for long.

He said, “Nemesis caught up with the syndicate when it had a fierce encounter with Operation Sharan Daji Police Patrol Team attached to Safana Division.”

The arrested suspects were identified as 30-year-old Ya’u Ishuhu of Tsaskiya village, Safana area of Katsina, Iliyasu Isah, 30, of Jikamshi Village, Musawa; Umaru Ibrahim, 25, of Garin Wazirin Village, Safana; Tukur Abdulaziz, 30, of Wurma Village, Kurfi; Ibrahim Rabi’u, 30, of Tsaskiya Village, Safana; Ibrahim Mamman, 40, of Rawayau Village, Kurfi, and Bala Babangida, 25, of Rawayau Village, also in Kurfi area of Katsina.

“Two AK 47 rifles with Breech nos. 56045391 and 071498975 with two empty magazines were found in their possession,” Isah stated. “Suspects have confessed to be the masterminds of armed robbery attacks of 1/3/2018 at Dankalgo – Rawayau Village, Kurfi LGA of Katsina State and others.”
