The Kano conjoined twins, Hassana and Husaina, who recently underwent a successful separation surgery in Saudi Arabia, returned to Nigeria on Friday to a warm reception at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

They were received by representatives of the Kano State Government alongside a delegation from Saudi Arabia.

The life-saving surgery was performed at the King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in Riyadh under the directive of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

The twins had been flown to Riyadh in October 2023, where they underwent months of comprehensive medical examinations before the operation.

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for what he described as an act of profound philanthropy. He also pledged that the state government would take full responsibility for the twins’ welfare, education, and other needs.

Governor Yusuf added that he looked forward to further collaborations between Kano State and Saudi Arabia.
