The Police have suspended the enforcement of vehicle tinted glass permits in compliance with a court order halting the exercise.

Spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development in an interview on AIT, noting that enforcement would remain on hold pending the court’s verdict.

“We are not against the courts. We have received the order, and enforcement is now on hold until a verdict is delivered,” Adeh stated.

She explained that the tinted glass policy was introduced for security reasons, as some criminal activities had been carried out using vehicles with darkened windows.

Adeh also clarified that payments for the permits are made into the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account, not to the police.
