The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, today presented the staff of office to the newly appointed Owa Obokun of Ijesa, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup.
Oba Haastrup was elected by the kingmakers on Friday morning, with his appointment promptly approved by Governor Adeleke.
Speaking at the installation ceremony, Governor Adeleke congratulated the new monarch and urged him to foster unity among the people of Ijesa for the development of both the community and the state. He prayed for a peaceful reign and a prosperous future for Ijesa land.
“Now that the time of competition is over and you have become the father of all, I urge you to unite the citizens of Ijesaland for its growth and the progress of Osun State,” Adeleke said.
The governor also encouraged Oba Haastrup to leverage his vast experience and connections, both locally and internationally, to drive development in Ijesaland.
“There is much work to be done, and the government cannot do it alone. It requires the collective efforts of everyone,” he added.
Governor Adeleke called on the sons and daughters of Ijesa to remain committed to the development of their homeland. He also highlighted his administration’s ongoing projects in the town, emphasising the importance of community involvement in advancing the region.
