Just In: Gospel Singer, Sammie Okposo, Dies

Femi Ashekun/

Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, is dead, reports say.

The ‘Welu Welu’ singer reportedly died in his sleep at his Lagos home in the early hours of today.

He was 51.

In May this year, the controversial singer escaped death by the whiskers in a ghastly car accident while driving on 3rd mainland bridge in Lagos.

He said at the time that he “was saved from the hands of the devil and his cohorts.”

Late Okposo was billed to perform at a concert starting today in Calabar, Cross River State.
