Jos School Building Collapse Leaves 22 Dead, Over 100 Injured

A two-story building housing Saints Academy in the Busa-Buji area of Jos North LGA collapsed early yesterday trapping students who were taking exams inside.

The incident, which occurred around 8:30 AM local time, has resulted in at least 22 fatalities and 132 injuries, according to initial reports.

Rescue operations are underway, with cranes deployed to assist in the extrication of those trapped under the debris.

Authorities fear that more individuals may still be buried beneath the rubble as rescue efforts continue. The collapse has prompted a significant emergency response and caused disruptions in the surrounding area.

The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined, and investigations are ongoing.

Families of the affected students and the wider community are anxiously awaiting further updates as the rescue operations proceed.

The tragic event has drawn attention to the safety standards of school buildings in the region and has sparked calls for urgent action to prevent such incidents in the future.
