The ripple effects of Commissioner of Police (CP) Olubode Ojajuni’s recent election into the INTERPOL Africa Committee are still resonating, with congratulatory messages pouring in from across Nigeria. One of the most notable came from Osun State’s Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, who described the victory as not just an achievement for Ojajuni but also a validation of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun’s reform agenda.
Ojajuni’s success at the 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, secured Nigeria a fifth seat on the prestigious Committee, which plays a key role in shaping continental security policy, identifying crime priorities, and promoting cross-border policing collaboration.
In his statement from Osogbo, Jenyo praised Ojajuni as a resilient and professional officer whose dedication to service has been rewarded with international recognition.
“Your commitment, resilience, and professionalism in your career are some of the obvious reasons why you can not be underestimated or defeated,” Jenyo said. “The grace of Almighty God, which has taken you thus far, will continue to sustain and guide you towards greater success.”

Jenyo added that the victory enhances Nigeria’s voice in continental policing conversations and strengthens Egbetokun’s drive to modernise the Nigeria Police Force, making it more relevant and respected globally.
Security analysts agree that Ojajuni’s election is more than symbolic; it positions Nigeria to contribute actively to tackling transnational threats such as organised crime, terrorism, and cyber insecurity while showcasing the impact of Egbetokun’s leadership in building an outward-looking, reform-driven Force.
