Israeli media are reporting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been presented with footage purportedly showing the body of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, following Saturday’s large-scale US-Israeli strikes on Tehran.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, also known as N12, and The Times of Israel, senior Israeli officials informed Netanyahu that Khamenei had been killed in the bombardment of his compound and that visual evidence had been recovered from the site.
The reports state that footage of the body was subsequently shown to the prime minister.
Earlier, Netanyahu said there were “growing signs” that Khamenei “is gone”, though he stopped short of issuing a formal government confirmation.
Israeli officials, cited by Reuters, have said intelligence assessments indicate the supreme leader did not survive the strike.
However, there has been no independent verification of the footage or the claim of Khamenei’s death. Iranian authorities have not issued any official confirmation.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, told international media that Khamenei was alive “as far as I know”, directly contradicting the Israeli narrative.
US network, Fox News, also carried a breaking report stating that Iran’s supreme leader had been confirmed dead after the strike, citing Israeli sources.
As of now, that confirmation remains based on Israeli briefings and has not been corroborated by Iranian state media or independent observers.
The strikes on Tehran form part of a broader joint offensive by Israel and the United States targeting Iranian military and leadership infrastructure.
Satellite imagery and regional security sources confirm heavy damage to sites linked to Iran’s command structure, including areas associated with Khamenei’s official residence.
If confirmed, the death of Khamenei, who has led the Islamic Republic since 1989 and holds ultimate authority over Iran’s armed forces and state institutions, would represent the most significant leadership decapitation in Iran’s modern history and could trigger profound internal and regional repercussions.
For now, the situation remains fluid. The claim that Netanyahu has viewed footage of Khamenei’s body marks the strongest assertion yet from Israel that the Iranian leader has been killed, but without confirmation from Tehran or independent verification, the status of Iran’s supreme leader remains officially unresolved
