Tinubu, a National Leader of the APC had polled 1,271 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Mr Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who scored 316 and 235 votes respectively.

Some of the residents, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Iragbiji, said Tinubu’s victory was well deserved.

NAN also reports that Tinubu has ancestral link with the Osun community.

A NAN correspondent, who went around the  ancient community, reports that some residents were sighted celebrating Tinubu’s victory  at different relaxation joints.

Speaking with NAN in his palace, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrasheed  Olabomi, described Tinubu’s victory as a good omen for Nigeria.

According to Olabomi, Tinubu is sufficiently endowed to move Nigeria to the next level.

“Although Obas are not supposed to be partisan, but in the project called Nigeria, we are all stakeholders.

“I see the emergence of Tinubu as a good omen for Nigeria and his victory has proved that Nigeria can work.

“From the outcome of the APC convention, the project called Nigeria is a possibility and it can work effectively,” he said.

Olabomi also commended the party’s northern governors for supporting the emergence of Tinubu as candidate.

“The position of nothern governors amazed me so much and I want to give it to them as the heroes of the convention.

“I salute their courage, fairness and justice which ensured that Tinubu emerged as the party’s flag bearer.

“No one is in doubt that Tinubu is gifted, he has the vision, capacity, capability and is sufficiently endowed to drive Nigeria to the next level.

“One is not saying that candidates of other parties are not good, but when you look  at the pedigree of someone like Tinubu in terms of performance and vision, if eventually he emerges as the president, we will have a new lease of life,” he said.

Also speaking, Mr Mufutau Akinloye, the Chairman of APC in Boripe Local Government Area, described Tinubu as a competent administrator capable of moving the country forward.

Akinloye, who said that he was happy that Tinubu won the party’s ticket, described the victory as a dream come true for the town and the country at large.

”I can’t tell you how happy I am that our man, our son, Tinubu won the party’s ticket.

“We are proud of him and we will support him to win the election,” he said.

Mr Samson Oyebode, the Chairman of Boripe Local  Government Council, said the residents of the town were in a high spirits over Tinubu’s victory.

Oyebode, who noted that Tinubu deserved the victory, said the former Lagos State governor would move the country forward if elected president.

”We are happy that Tinubu is the candidate of our party and we are confident that he will be victorious in the election,” he said.

Also speaking, Mrs Florence Ayankoya, an indigene of the community, said she was happy that Tinubu won the APC presidential ticket.

”Tinubu is a son of Iragbiji, his emergence as the APC flag-bearer and eventual victory will be of great benefit to the town.

“I am for him and I pray he is victorious at the poll,” she said.

In a related development, Gov. Gboyega Oyetola has congratulated  Tinubu on his landslide victory at the party’s convention.

Oyetola, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, described the emergence of the former Lagos  governor as a victory for democracy as well as demonstration of his influence and acceptability within APC and across the country.

The governor said that the emergence of Tinubu in the hitch-free electoral process was a clear indication that the country was on the verge of democratic rejuvenation.

“Your emergence at the just concluded Presidential Primary of our great party is indeed a reward of your tireless efforts and selfless services to Nigeria and Nigerians and of course, humanity as a whole.

“You are not just a leader of leaders but a fine politician who had used his God-given wisdom and wealth to build humanity and advance the socioeconomic fortunes of our dear country.

“It is on record that your phenomenal leadership and enigmatic fortress had in no measure contributed significantly to the growth and development of Lagos State where you served as a two-term governor and of course Nigeria, as it is evident in your influence across the nooks and crannies of the country.

“With your antecedents coupled with your outstanding credentials in both private and public sectors, I have no doubt in my mind that your emergence will deliver victory for our party in all elections.
