The Ogun State Police Command has launched an intensified rescue operation following the abduction of victims from a private hostel in Ipara, Ogun State.
The incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, July 29, 2026, prompting the immediate deployment of police tactical teams and intelligence assets alongside other security agencies.
Police Public Relations Officer for the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying security agencies activated a coordinated operational response as soon as the distress report was received.
According to the command, the operation is focused on securing the safe rescue of the abducted victims and tracking down those responsible for the attack.
“Rescue operations are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of those responsible,” the police said.
The command did not disclose the number or identities of those abducted, nor did it provide details on how the assailants gained access to the private hostel.
Police appealed to parents, students and members of the public to remain calm as the operation continues, warning against the circulation of unverified information that could compromise security efforts.
