Four tertiary institutions have been shut down in Kano State over fears of insecurity.
According to the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, the state governor, Dr Umar Ganduje ordered immediate closure of the schools.
She listed the affected schools as RMK College of Advanced and Remedial Studies T/Wada; School of Environmental Studies Gwarzo; School of RuralTechnology and Entrepreneurship Development (SORTED), Rano, and ABCOAD, Dambatta.
“With this instruction, all students of the affected schools are advised to vacate the campuses as soon as possible,” the Commissioner said.
She added that date for schoolre-openingwould be communicated later and regretted allinconveniences caused by the development.
Allthe four schools are located in remote areas housing reasonable numbers of boarding students.
The state government had also on Friday shut down 12 boarding secondary schools in the state attributing it to insecurity.
In the early hours of Friday over 300 female students were abducted by suspected bandits from a boarding secondary school in Jangebe, Zamfara State.
