The Independent National Electoral Commission has promised to investigate allegations of underage voting in some parts of Northern Nigeria.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this today at the Election Project Plan Implementation Workshop, taking place in Lagos.

He said the commission would constitute a special committee headed by a national commissioner to look into the allegations.

Yakubu stated: “We wish to assure Nigerians that the matter will be fully investigated.

“A National Commissioner will lead a team including technical staff drawn from Voter Registry, ICT and Electoral Operations Depts for an immediate and comprehensive investigation. We will share the findings with Nigerians.”
