Nigerian musician, Folarin Falana, aka Falz, has written an open letter to the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mr. Muhammed Babandede, on behalf of the five female officers who were penalised for taking part in his ‘Bop Daddy’ challenge.
Bop Daddy, a social media video challenge which involves people video recording themselves transforming into a variety of clothes, was initiated by the musician to promote his latest single track with the same title.
An online video showing the five officers taking part in the challenge, while changing from their uniforms into clothes that the immigration authorities deemed too revealing, went viral about two months ago.
Following the development, the five officers were queried by the service and subsequently transferred to different parts of the country without any provision for their transportation and accommodation as contained in the service rules.
In a letter he shared on Twitter, today, Falz pleaded with the immigration boss to consider reversing the harsh punishments meted out to the officers in the face of the prevailing situation in the country occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Falz wrote on his Twitter handle, “Hi @nigimmigration I have sent a letter to the Comptroller-General of the NIS concerning the #Immigration5 Please treat as urgent cc @babandedemb.
