Actor and comedian, Kehinde Ganiyu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has accused officers of the Nigeria Police Force of brutally assaulting him during an encounter in Lagos, alleging that the incident nearly cost him his life.
The entertainer, who is currently trending on X, claimed that the alleged assault took place at a filling station around the Ajah area of Lagos, where officers attached to the Area J Police Division reportedly accosted him.
He alleged that during the incident, the officers beat him severely and seized his iPhone 16 Pro Max, as well as $1,200 belonging to his brother.
In videos and posts shared on social media, Ijoba Lande appeared visibly distressed as he narrated his ordeal, sparking widespread outrage and renewed criticism of police conduct in Nigeria.
The allegations have triggered thousands of reactions online, with many users calling for accountability and an independent investigation.
According to the comedian, the incident occurred just days after he returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.
“I returned from the UK six days ago and was attacked and beaten by police officers in Nigeria. They collected my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my brother’s $1,200. I nearly lost my life,” he said.
Friends and supporters were seen urging him to formally report the incident, while several social media users described the allegations as yet another example of alleged police brutality and extortion.
In response to the growing public outcry, the Police Complaint Response Unit (PCRU) acknowledged the allegations on X and requested that the comedian provide his contact details to enable an investigation.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had not issued an official statement confirming or denying the claims, nor had it provided details of any disciplinary action against the officers involved.
