The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has reaffirmed his commitment to police welfare and institutional reforms as he decorated 20 newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) and 19 Commissioners of Police (CPs) with their new ranks.
The decoration ceremony, held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, was attended by top dignitaries, including former Senate President David Mark, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (represented by Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan), former Ekiti State Governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, and other senior officials from within and outside the Force.
The promotions, recently approved by the Police Service Commission at the IGP’s request, mark another milestone in the ongoing transformation within the Nigeria Police Force, which has witnessed an unprecedented number of promotions in record time.
Among the newly decorated AIGs are Fasuba Olabode, Musibau Ajani, Aliyu Abubakar, Patrick Adedeji Atayero, Gyogon Grimah, Olaiya Victor Mobolaji, Chukwudi Ariekpere, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Olaolu Adegbite, Godwin Eze, Disu Olatunji Rilwan, Alausa Tolani, Kareem Musa, Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, Dan-Mamman Shawulu, Clement Robert, Musa Auwal Mohammed, Thomas Abraham Nabhoni, Abel Jangnap Zwalchir, and Ifeanyi Uka.
The newly confirmed CPs include Usman Tahir, Sunday Okoebor, Ayodeji Faniyan, Saka Adewale Ajao, Omole Ola, Hope Okafor, Ajo Geofrey Oroue, Olufunke Ogunbode, Stephen Ogedengbe, Iyabode Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, Adebowale Lawal, Ojo Adekimi, Yemi Oyeniyi, Obasi Okereke, Moses Ottah, Felix Nnebue, Gazali Abdulsalam, Fidelis Ogarabe, and Olubode Ojajuni.
IGP Egbetokun, in his address, charged the promoted officers to embrace strategic leadership and actively drive ongoing police reforms aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency and public trust in the Force.
“This promotion is not just a recognition of your service but a call to higher responsibility. The Nigeria Police Force is undergoing a transformation, and we must continue to demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and dedication to duty,” he said.

The event was a moment of celebration as families, friends, and colleagues joined in applauding the officers for their career advancements.
The IGP assured that his administration remains committed to improving officers’ welfare while strengthening the institution’s capacity to tackle security challenges across the nation.
