The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, with immediate effect.

CSP Iniedu replaces DCP Anthony Okon Placid who was appointed by IGP Disu as FPRO on March 8, 2026.

Police authorities told NewsmakersNG that the appointment of Iniedu forms part of ongoing efforts by the Force leadership to strengthen strategic communication, deepen public engagement, and enhance trust between the police and the citizens.

A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from University of Uyo. He brings to the position a wealth of experience spanning public relations, intelligence, operations, and police accountability.

Before his appointment, CSP Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he played a key role in addressing public complaints, promoting transparency, and strengthening police-citizen relations. He also served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State.

His extensive career within the Force includes postings as Operations Officer, Maisandari Division, Yobe State; Area Crime Officer, Umuahia, Abia State; Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat; Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Kubwa, Abuja; and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.

According to the IGP, CSP Iniedu’s broad operational and communication experience positions him to drive the Force’s strategic communication agenda and further improve public confidence in policing.
