The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, will deliver the 13th Anniversary Lecture of Realnews Magazine and Publications Limited, publishers of Realnews Online, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, beginning at 10 a.m.
Themed “Cybersecurity, Illicit Financial Flows and Achieving Agenda 2063 in Africa,” the lecture is expected to dissect how corruption, cybercrime, and financial leakages threaten the continent’s development ambitions while spotlighting actionable strategies to strengthen transparency and accountability across Africa.
Dr. Aliyu, appointed ICPC Chairman by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in October 2023, confirmed his participation earlier in March 2025 and reaffirmed his commitment in a follow-up correspondence on October 31, saying, “I will attend by God’s grace.”
Dr. Aliyu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is celebrated for his reform-driven leadership and deep commitment to institutional integrity. Before his appointment as ICPC Chairman, he served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Jigawa State (2019–2023), where he implemented key justice-sector reforms, championed women’s and children’s rights, and established the state’s Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
An academic and author, Dr. Aliyu has lectured at the Jigawa State College of Islamic Legal Studies, Ringim, and the Faculty of Law, Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil. His scholarly works and conference papers have been widely recognized both locally and internationally.
Born in Birnin-Kudu, Jigawa State, on December 27, 1977, Dr. Aliyu obtained his LL.B from Bayero University, Kano, B.L from the Nigerian Law School, LL.M from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and PhD in Law from Universiti Utara, Malaysia.
The 13th Anniversary Lecture will be chaired by Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips, former Chief Judge of Lagos State and former Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, who will also moderate a high-level panel session.
Since its inception, the Realnews Anniversary Lecture Series has provided a platform for leading thinkers to engage with issues shaping Nigeria and Africa’s future.
Past keynote speakers include Ambassador Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Boss Mustapha, and Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, among others — all of whom have contributed to national and continental discourse through their expertise and experience.
