Barring any last-minute changes, Ibadan may witness a historic royal proclamation on Monday as the Olubadan-in-Council convenes to begin formal deliberations on the appointment of former governor, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The high-stakes meeting is scheduled to hold at 11am, at the new Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area.
The notice of the meeting, made available to newsmen in Ibadan today, was signed and issued by the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola.
The Balogun is the traditional authority legally empowered to convene such royal gatherings under Ibadan’s unique succession system.
This crucial step comes just days after the conclusion of the 21-day mourning period for Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, who passed away in the early hours of July 7, just two days after turning 90 and while still celebrating the first anniversary of his coronation on July 12, 2024.
