Nigerians on Twitter are battling to save a suicidal user who threatened to commit suicide in a series of tweets this morning.

The user, with the handle, @EmmilyEmmanuel, said he tried to kill himself on Monday by drinking bleach but didn’t die. He however vowed to explore another way of killing himself tomorrow.

He said he finally made up his mind to end it all after a vehicle he was using as a taxi was retrieved by the owner, thus, depriving him of his only means of livelihood.

Some Twitter users have also called the attention of a mental health advocacy group, Mentally Aware Nigeria, to the development. The group later tweeted that it was already intervening in the matter.

Part of his tweets read, “Stop telling me that Jesus Loves me. I know he does that’s why we have to meet early enough to clarify some things. Everyone Dies. But Not everyone needs to fear death.

“Have reached that point. Tell my dad I know I failed. Tell Mum I know I failed. Tell my siblings I tried. Am sorry Folks. Am so sorry.

“Dear God. Forgive me. I don’t know how to say Goodbye. There is peace in the Grave. I wish I can stay longer to see legal actions taken and the rest of the things. But I can’t anymore.

“I took hypo on Monday and I didn’t die. Well will try a different approach tomorrow.”

In another tweet, he wrote, “Most of us have experienced that pivotal peak of pain, anger or frustration in which we want to scream “I hate my life.” Yet, the feeling that a dark cloud has specifically settled over us and our experiences can feel pretty isolating. Well mine is worst atm.”
