Tunde Onakoya, the visionary behind Chess in Slums Africa, today, shared an emotional reflection on his journey, highlighting his resilience and determination.
On his X handle, Tunde recalled selling bottled water at The Experience gospel concert in 2013/2014.
“I still have a mental map of all the different entry points into TBS,” he wrote, reflecting on life’s twists and turns.
Encouraging his followers, he added, “However it sways you, I hope you never lose faith in your ideas. Seasons change, but God remains the same.”
Tunde, who was only 20 years old at the time, has since transformed countless lives through his Chess in Slums initiative.
The project integrates chess into underserved communities, fostering critical thinking and providing education opportunities for marginalised youth.
Tunde’s work has garnered international acclaim, underscoring his remarkable journey from humble beginnings to global recognition.
