The 45-year-old man who allegedly burnt to death eight members of his ex-girlfriend’s family, including her parents and five children, has confessed to the crime.

The suspect, Deji Adenuga, allegedly committed the heinous act last week Monday in Igbodigo town in Ondo State, after his girlfriend, identified as Titi Saanumi, decided to end their relationship.

The suspect, who has also been discovered to be among the prisoners that escaped during a jailbreak at Olokuta prison, thereafter, fled the town but arrested by police detectives in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State yesterday.

Adenuga, who also confessed to having killed his first wife, said he decided to punish his ex-girlfriend’s family for supporting her decision to aborted the four-month pregnancy she had for him.

He said he had also invested a lot in the relationship and felt the only way he could take his own pound of flesh was to do what he did.

According to him, his intention was to burn all his property their daughter took from his house when she parked to her parent’s house, but did not regret killing eight members of the family in the process.

He said he killed his first wife in 2003 after she stole N450,000 from him.
