The Nigeria have arrested Dele Farotimi, a prominent human rights lawyer, following a defamation petition by Tony Elumelu, chairman of the UBA Group.
Omoyele Sowore, a 2023 AAC presidential candidate and activist, announced the arrest on X, calling out the police for allegedly being used as a tool for personal vendettas.
“I just learned that Dele Farotimi was arrested by the Nigerian Police over a petition by Tony Elumelu alleging defamation. The police must understand that they cannot continue to be used for personal scores, and Nigerians will no longer tolerate such misuse of power,” Sowore stated, demanding Farotimi’s immediate release from custody at Zone 2 Command in Lagos.
