ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Police Command has received glowing commendation for its swift intervention in rescuing 18 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were stranded late at night in a notorious kidnapping hotspot after their vehicle broke down.

The commendation came in a letter of appreciation addressed to the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, by the General Manager of Fresh FM Lagos, Taiwo Akinsola, popularly known as Omobabawoli ni Ilasamaja.

According to the letter, the corps members became stranded on the night of June 30, 2026, at a location in Ogun State widely feared for frequent kidnapping and other violent crimes.

Faced with mounting fear and uncertainty, the stranded corps members reportedly contacted the police for help.

The letter stated that CP Ojajuni immediately mobilised officers to the scene, where they secured the area, safely evacuated all 18 corps members to Ijebu-Ode and arranged hotel accommodation for them until they could continue their journey safely.

Akinsola described the response as prompt, professional and life-saving, noting that the intervention prevented what could have escalated into a national tragedy.

“We are deeply appreciative that the Ogun State Police Command, under CP Bode Ojajuni, responded promptly to the distress call. Your officers arrived without delay, secured the scene and ensured the safe evacuation of all 18 corps members,” the letter stated.

He added that the courage, vigilance and professionalism displayed by the officers demonstrated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property, even under dangerous circumstances.

“This act of service goes beyond duty. It demonstrates the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force under your leadership to protect lives and property, even in the most dangerous hours. The corps members and their families are forever grateful,” he stated.

The Fresh FM Lagos General Manager also praised the Divisional Police Officer and the patrol team involved in the operation, saying their decisive action had strengthened public confidence in the police.

He prayed for God’s continued protection and strength for the Commissioner of Police and the officers serving in Ogun State.

The rescue has further highlighted the Ogun State Police Command’s increasing emphasis on rapid emergency response and proactive policing under the leadership of CP Bode Ojajuni, whose administration has recently recorded several high-profile operational successes against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
