A cultural enthusiast and coordinator of OjajaTV in South America, Ajoyemi Osunleye, has expressed what he called the views of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on the role of ancestral spirit in the evolutionary and revolutionary history of the Yoruba people in Brazil.

Ajoyemi. O. Osunleye , President, Casa das Heranças de Oduduwa.

Speaking on the emancipation of the Yoruba race in Brazil and the people’s political and social revolution while maintaining strong ties with their roots in Nigeria, Osunleye, Ooni’s Brazil-based confidant, revealed to NewsmakersNG the thoughts of the Ooni on the spiritual identification between the Yoruba people of Nigeria and the sons and daughters of Oduduwa in Brazil.

The monarch, who recently likened the Brazilian freedom fighter Zumbi dos Palmares to Oduduwa, reportedly revealed that the ancestral father of all Yoruba people reincarnated in Brazil to liberate the Yoruba people from their slave masters in the 18th century.

According to Osunleye, the Ooni who is known as Ojaja II revealed that this history requires a deep knowledge and understanding from the spiritual point of view. He said that the bond started right from Ile-Ife, in Nigeria and across the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas. A vision and understanding that has also been a center of focus in the recently launched video documentary titled “Zumbi is the King”.

The documentary is an amazing video display of the philosophical and spiritual link in the artistic expression of Ori Olokun and Zumbi dos Palmares. It’s an initiative developed and recorded in Rio de Janeiro by Ajoyemi O. Osunleye, a Brazil based Nigerian culture and tradition expert. Osunleye said that the fascinating documentary sought to understand the display of one of the most cherished ancestral image in the history of the Yoruba people exhibited in the metropolitan city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is a point of tourist attraction in the city.

The Ooni who visited the statue of Zumbi dos Palmares during his last visit to Rio de Janeiro pinpointed the great symbolism and the strength of the Yoruba culture, tradition and religion in Brazil. He addressed the authorities present at the visit that Oduduwa must have manifested in Brazil in the spirit of the African Brazilian warrior, Zumbi dos Palmares, to liberate his race from slavery.

The Yoruba monarch reportedly reaffirmed that the Brazilian people are also Omo Oduduwa, descendants of the Yoruba People from Ile-Ife, the cradle of civilization.

Osunleye, who is the President of Casa Herança de Oduduwa and director of The African Pride Company, said “We already have the support of the Government of Rio de Janeiro to retell the story according to the visions of the Ooni of Ife for the benefits of all students and readers in Brazil and also in Nigeria. This new clip is in line with the vision of Kabiyesi.”

Zumbi dos Palmares was a Brazilian freedom fighter of African descent who was killed and beheaded in 1695 by the slave masters for defending his race against slavery.
