Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Public Safety in Imo State, Mr. Rodney Ajaelu, has narrated how he and a colleague were harassed and robbed by some policemen at gunpoint on the Asaba-Benin expressway on Sunday morning.
Ajaelu related his experience in a Facebook post earlier today.
Ajaelu claimed he and his colleague were traveling to Lagos for an official engagement when they were accosted by some plain-clothes policemen, who claimed to be operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Edo State.
According to him, they were robbed of N40, 000 and other valuables, including their bags and wristwatches.
He said the policemen parked a Brown-coloured Toyota Camry, with police written on both sides, at the scene.
He added that they were also handcuffed and held hostage by the policemen despite the fact that he promptly identified himself to them
Ajaelu wondered what fate awaits the average citizen if someone of his standing could be subjected to such a horrible treatment.
He called on the Inspector-General of Police and the Edo State commissioner of police to investigate the incident.
