A man rescued from the den of kidnappers in Ibadan, Oyo State capital has told how he lost his senses after he was fed with some concoction by his abductors.

According to the police, 19-year-old Matthew Isichei Chukwuebuka was rescued by officers attached to the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in Lagos who followed up on a petition referred to the State’s Commissioner of Police (CP) Zubairu Muazu from his counterpart in Oyo State, CP Shina Olukolu.

Lagos State police spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana, told NewsmakersNG that the officers acting on credible intelligence with the support of Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) arrested two suspects at Ibadan identified as Thoa Akorede and Alhaji Muhibudeen Akorede.

He said that the rescued victim had been in their custody for nine days without being fed.

“The victim stated that he was called through his phone, that he didn’t know how he got to Ibadan; that on arrival, he was given something from a black pot to eat; that he lost his senses and was ordered to surrender his phone to them and the phone was programmed to reject any incoming calls except the only line that they were demanding the ransom through; that they collected all the money in his possession and were demanding for more. He was taken to an ATM point where they withdrew the sum of N10, 000 from his account. They demanded the sum of N30, 000, 000 to be paid into the victim’s bank account as ransom. The victim has since been reunited with his family. The suspects were charged to court and remanded in prison custody,” Elkana stated.
