A Lagos-based driver, Ibrahim Opeyemi Kasali, has been arrested after allegedly robbing his employer, Mrs Bisola Bamidele, popularly known as Alaga Bisbam, of thousands of dollars, millions of naira, and gold jewellery, then spending N5.6 million on the betting game, Aviator, in a single day.

Alaga Bisbam, a well-known traditional wedding compere and founder of BisBam Communications Ltd, has earned fame not just in Nigeria but internationally, having anchored traditional weddings in the US, UK, Canada, and several European countries.

She told investigators that the stolen funds and valuables were largely proceeds from her wedding hosting business, which handles high-profile clients and international events.

Bisbam said Kasali had resumed work only four months earlier, in July, on a monthly salary of N100,000, with free accommodation and feeding.

She described him as a quiet and respectful employee before the shocking betrayal.

CCTV footage reportedly captured Kasali using duplicated keys to enter Bisbam’s home while she was at work, taking both foreign currency and naira, alongside gold jewellery.

After reporting the theft to the police with no immediate breakthrough for two weeks, Bisbam appealed for help on social media.

Her emotional video quickly went viral, sparking public outrage.

Within 24 hours, a social media user tipped her off, leading to Kasali’s arrest at a hotel where he had been living lavishly since the theft.

Investigators reportedly recovered evidence from his phone confirming multiple betting transactions, including the N5.6 million he lost on Aviator in a single day.

Bisbam expressed hope that the remaining stolen money and valuables would soon be recovered.

The incident has reignited discussions about online betting addiction, the risks of misplaced trust in domestic staff, and the growing role of social media in driving justice.

Many users have praised Bisbam’s persistence and the collective effort that ultimately led to Kasali’s capture.
