HEDA Charges Buhari to Prosecute PEF Director Goddy Nnadi, others …Reveals Details of Alleged Billion Naira Fraud

A non-governmental organisation, Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA), has called for the immediate prosecution of the Director, Corporate Services, Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF) Mr Goddy Nnadi for alleged corrupt enrichment and living above his means. 

HEDA also called for the immediate prosecution of all other officials and people indicted in alleged financial crimes at the agency. 

The call was made at a press conference addressed by the Chairman of HEDA, Mr Olanrewaju Suraju, at Presken Hotel, in Lagos today. 

He said anybody found wanting in this financial impropriety should not go scot-free so that it will serve as a deterrent to others. 

His words: “We wish to inform Nigerians that investigation has revealed more than three bank accounts in Standard Chartered Bank Limited where the suspect is having nearly N2 billion. 

“We also wish to inform Nigerians that the said Director, Mr Goddy Nnadi also has huge amounts in several foreign currencies in the said bank. 

“It was appaling to discover that he also owns a multi-million hotel complex in Owerri, Imo State in addition to vast estates in Abuja, and other cities. Put together, these amount to billions of naira misappropriated from the public fund. 

“We are here to let Nigerians know that the panel has discovered 49 companies which have been steadily transferring monies into the accounts of the said director. These are corporate collaboration.”  

Suraju also explained how former Chairman Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream, Senator Kabiru Marafa from Zamfara State and his House of Representatives counterpart Joseph Akinlaja from Ondo State fraudulently allocated a larger percentage of humanitarian fund meant for war-ravaged North Eastern part of the country to their respective states.
