The Ondo State Police Command has launched a homicide investigation after the mutilated body of an unidentified woman was discovered inside a suitcase along Barracks Road near the GRA Roundabout in Ondo town.

The gruesome discovery was made on Tuesday, prompting detectives to cordon off the area and commence investigations into what police described as a disturbing case of murder.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said officers responded to a distress call and found the victim’s headless body.

According to him, preliminary examination revealed that the woman’s hands and legs had also been severed, indicating that she had been brutally mutilated before her body was dumped at the scene.

“Upon arrival, the officers discovered the headless body of a female victim. Preliminary observations revealed that several parts of the body had been mutilated,” Jimoh said.

He added that detectives had begun a full-scale investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing, identify the deceased and apprehend those responsible.

“Investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, identify the deceased, apprehend those responsible and establish the motive behind the gruesome act,” the police spokesman said.

As of the time of filing this report, the victim’s identity had not been established and no arrests had been announced.
