Gunmen Kill 3 Children, Mum Inside Lagos Church

Matilda Omonaiye

Three children and their mother were shot dead inside a Lagos church today.

The Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni told reporters at a press conference that the victims were killed at about 2am when the gunmen stormed the church in Agbowa area of Ikorodu.

Owoseni, however, assured residents of their safety in the state

He said, “We got a worrisome case early today about 2- 3am at the Agbowa area where some hoodlums entered an uncompleted church building and brutally murdered three children. The children are of the ages 4, 5 and 9 years. One person who we later discovered to be their mother was wounded and rushed to the hospital where she later died. As soon as we got the information, policemen rushed to the area. It is hasty to conclude the reason behind the murder, whether it was ritual killing or something else. We are doing everything to arrest the suspects.”

  • May their souls rest in peace. The loss of any life whatsoever is regrettable but when innocent children are caught in the crossfire of whatever might have been the cause of such an act, then it becomes more alarming.
Those perpetrators must be brought to book as soon as possible because I am sure our ever busy Nigerian Police would crack the case asap.
