Unknown gunmen have reportedly invaded the Army Post Housing Estate in Kurudu, on the outskirts of Abuja, abducting two persons.

The estate houses both retired army personnel and civilians.

This happened less than 48 hours after the police launched a major onslaught against kidnappers and bandits in the capital city and environ.

Spokesperson of police in FCT, Josephine Adeh, declined comment, urging newsmen to contact the army for any information on the incident.

The incident reportedly happened at about 1pm in Phase 2 area of the estate, yesterday.

Abuja has recently been witnessing widespread insecurity, especially kidnapping for ransom by suspected bandits.

Kidnappers, who abducted ten people from Sagwari Estate Layout at Dutse in Bwari Area Council of FCT, on January 7, had reportedly killed two of the abductees to send a strong warning to their relatives negotiating ransom payment.

The bandits had increased their demand from an initial N60 million per person to N100 million, now totalling N700 million.
