Three security aides have been killed by unknown gunmen who attacked former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Prof. Charles Soludo, days after he indicated interest in the November governorship election in Anambra State.
Reports say he was attacked in Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The gunmen reportedly shot dead three policemen among the security aides attached to Soludo during the attack.
Police spokesman in the state, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the attack but gave no details.
This is the latest in the campaign of violence on security agents in the Southern part of the country.
Earlier in March, bandits invaded a bus conveying some suspects to court in Anambra and killed a prison warder and other people.
It happened in Aguata LGA.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack on Soludo.
