Gunmen Attack NIPSS Again, One Killed as Security Operatives Repel Midnight Assault

Security operatives have successfully repelled another midnight attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, killing one of the suspected armed assailants during a fierce gun battle.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the attempted invasion occurred at about 11 p.m. yesterday when heavily armed gunmen reportedly tried to breach the Institute’s security perimeter but were met with stiff resistance from security personnel guarding the facility.

According to a statement issued today by the Institute’s Head of Public Affairs, Dr. Osime Samuel, the attackers engaged security operatives in an intense exchange of gunfire before they were forced to retreat by the swift and coordinated response of security forces.

The Institute disclosed that one of the attackers was neutralised during the operation, while several others escaped with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.

Despite the assault, NIPSS said the gunmen failed to penetrate the institution’s security perimeter, assuring that all participants of the Senior Executive Course, members of staff, residents and critical facilities within the Institute remained safe and unharmed.

The statement added that security agencies had launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects, with surveillance and other proactive security measures significantly reinforced within and around the Institute to forestall further attacks.

Reassuring participants, their families, staff and the general public, the management stressed that the safety of lives and property remains its highest priority.

It also commended the professionalism and prompt intervention of the security agencies, urging members of the public to disregard misinformation capable of causing unnecessary panic.

The latest attack comes just weeks after another failed attempt by armed men to infiltrate the prestigious policy institution, raising fresh concerns over repeated security threats targeting the facility.
