Professor Adigun Agbaje, a former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the University of Ibadan, was yesterday kidnapped alongside other travellers, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Agbaje, who is currently on sabbatical at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), was on his way to Ibadan at about 6pm when kidnappers blocked his way very close to the Sat Guru Maharaji Garden.
The kidnappers also attacked a police checkpoint close to the scene of the incident, killing one policeman and injuring another, before making away with their captives.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the abductors have since contacted the Agbaje family to demand a N50 million ransom.
