Oba David Oyewumi, the Obadu of Ilemeso-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area was yesterday kidnapped in his palace by gunmen.
The gunmen reportedly scaled the fence of the palace, shot sporadically into the air before taking away the monarch.
Ilemeso Ekiti is about 10km from Isan Ekiti, Governor Kayose Fayemi’s hometown.
The incident is happening barely a week after the Elewu of Ewu, in Ilemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Oba Adetutu Ajayi, escaped kidnappers’ ambush.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relation Officer, Ekiti State Police Command, Mr Sunday Abutu, said the incident happened yesterday.
Abutu said that necessary steps have been taken to rescue the Monarch and apprehend the culprits.
