Gunmen have abducted another officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) with his wife and son, at Dafara community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the hoodlums also killed a vigilante group member, who ran into them during the attack which occurred yesterday night.

This was just as the police announced that they have begun a special operation to rescue the nine victims abducted last weekend in Pegi community, a few kilometres from Dafara.

A operative of the NSCDC was among the victims, while one other operative was injured by the assailants.

The police in a statement shared on Twitter via their verified handle, @PoliceNG, read:

“The Nigeria Police Force is currently carrying out a massive counter kidnapping operation aimed at rescuing all victims of recent kidnapping incidents in and around the FCT.

“The exercise which is a joint operation between the Police and other security agents, is being carried out around Kuje – Robuchi axis and other blackspots within the Federal Capital Territory.

“Citizens are advised not to panic but remain calm as the law enforcement agencies and the security community are determined to rescue all the victims unhurt, arrest the kidnappers and their collaborators and restore law and order.”
