A guardian, Temitope Adetanju, has been arrested by the police in Ogun State for allegedly inserting a piece of firewood into the private part of her 12-year-old female ward (names withheld).
She was reportedly picked up on June 11 by a team deployed by the Divisional Police Officer at Obada Oko Divisional Police Headquarters, shortly after the incident occurred.
According to police sources, the 12-year-old girl, from Isewo, Obada Oko, was severely beaten and had a piece of firewood inserted into her private area by her 25-year-old guardian.
Based on Adetanju’s confession, the victim was found to have stolen items including, biscuits worth N200, a chocolate beverage worth N150, and a fruit drink worth N300.
Ogun State police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, has confirmed Adetanju’s arrest.
