Passengers arriving at the Osogbo train station on Osun State’s free train service expressed immense gratitude to the state government for easing their journey home for the festive season.
The initiative, which brought in thousands of passengers from Lagos, also saw stops in Iwo and Ede, where some passengers disembarked to continue their celebrations in nearby towns.
At the Osogbo terminal, the Osun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, personally welcomed the travellers.
Speaking at the event, Jenyo praised Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to the welfare of residents.
“This initiative is part of the state government’s effort to lessen the financial burden on our people during the festive season and ensure they reunite with their families safely,” he said.
Passengers hailed the programme as a life-saving intervention, especially during a period when transportation costs have skyrocketed.
“I wouldn’t have been able to afford the journey otherwise,” said one traveller. Another described the experience as “smooth, comfortable, and deeply appreciated.”
This complimentary service has been wdely lauded for providing a safe and cost-effective travel option, especially during a period when transportation costs typically surge.
The Osun State Government has a history of offering free train services during major festive periods, reflecting its commitment to the welfare of its citizens.
