Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Documentation, Research, and Planning, Dr. Mkor Aondona, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail involving explicit sex videos.
The EFCC’s Makurdi Zonal Directorate apprehended Aondona, yesterday, after receiving chilling complaints from female students. According to the allegations, the governor’s aide lured young women with promises of lucrative ushering jobs but made sexual favours a condition for selection.
Unknown to the victims, Aondona reportedly recorded their sexual encounters without their consent. These videos became tools of blackmail, with the suspect allegedly threatening to leak the footage if the women refused to continue engaging in sexual relations with him.
The accusations also claim Aondona distributed some of these explicit videos through messaging platforms, leaving the victims exposed and devastated.
Reports indicate that several of the videos are already circulating, sparking outrage and demands for accountability.
The arrest has thrown the state government into the spotlight, raising questions about the vetting process for key appointees.
The EFCC confirmed that Aondona will be charged to court soon, as civil society groups and citizens call for justice for the victims.
