Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This development puts an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the governor’s political future.
Announcing the defection on Wednesday in Asaba, Senator James Manager addressed the press following a closed-door meeting with PDP stakeholders at the Government House. He disclosed that a formal declaration ceremony would take place on Monday.
Manager explained that the governor’s decision to join the ruling APC was in the interest of Delta State’s growth and development. He further stated that the entire PDP structure in the state has now aligned with the APC.
“With this move, Delta is now officially an APC state,” Manager declared.
Governor Oborevwori was present at the briefing alongside his predecessor and PDP Vice Presidential Candidate in the last election, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and other key PDP figures.
