Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has tested positive for COVID-19.

This followed a test conducted on him and members of his family today.

The Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Dr. Makut Macham, said in a statement that other members of his family tested negative.

The Governor, who is asymptomatic, has reportedly gone into isolation.

“As a result, the governor will henceforth work from home during the period of treatment.

“All State matters requiring the governor’s physical presence will be handled by the deputy governor,” the statement reads in part.

The statement says all his close aides will also be tested for the virus.
