Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has restored electricity supply to Kpaki, Takuma and Ezhi communities in Mokwa Local Government Area, ending more than 20 years of blackout in the area.

The communities were reportedly cut off from the national grid following the vandalism of key power infrastructure, leaving residents without public electricity for over two decades.

However, the governor’s administration, under the New Niger Agenda, approved and executed a multi-million-naira electrification project that reconnected the affected communities to the national grid.

This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Wednesday in Minna by the Chief Information Officer of the Ministry for Investment and Private Sector Development, Ismaili Musa.

According to the statement, the project was facilitated by the Commissioner for Investment and Private Sector Development, Hon. Alhaji Aminu Suleman Takuma, who described the restoration as a major political and developmental milestone for Mokwa Local Government.
Takuma said the return of electricity would stimulate economic activities, support small and medium-scale businesses, enhance security and improve living conditions in the communities.

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Bago on behalf of the benefiting communities, pledging continued grassroots support for the administration.

“The restoration of electricity to Kpaki, Takuma and Ezhi stands as a powerful testament to Governor Bago’s commitment to inclusive development,” the statement added.
