The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, has attributed the command’s strong crime-fighting performance to divine intervention, the professionalism and hard work of officers and men, and the growing cooperation of Lagos residents.

Speaking while hosting a delegation of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Western Zone, at the command headquarters, CP Jimoh said the combined effect of faith, discipline and public trust has continued to squeeze criminal activity across the state.

According to him, improved intelligence from residents, driven by renewed confidence in the police, has resulted in timely alerts that help operatives disrupt crimes in progress and dismantle criminal hideouts. He noted that this synergy has made Lagos increasingly inhospitable to criminals.

The police chief also acknowledged institutional backing from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Lagos State Government under Babajide Sanwo-Olu, particularly in the provision of critical equipment and logistics that have boosted morale and operational effectiveness.

While thanking the visiting IEDPU leaders for their encouragement and oversight, CP Jimoh urged residents and visitors alike to sustain their support, stressing that community partnership remains essential to making Lagos a crime-free state.

Earlier, the IEDPU Western Zone Chairman, Dr. Musa Imoloba Owonikoko (PhD), praised the commissioner for what he described as exemplary leadership and diligence. Conveying goodwill messages on behalf of the Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the National President of IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, and indigenes of the Ilorin Emirate, Owonikoko said CP Jimoh’s performance had brought pride to the community.

“Those of us living in Lagos even receive commendations from residents because of your good work,” he said, offering prayers for continued success and career advancement.

Members of the delegation included former Western Zone Vice President, Alhaji Dauda Aduagba; new Vice President Alhaji Abdulraheem Arishekola; Vice Chairman Alhaji Abdulganiyu Baba; Secretary Alhaji Olayiwola Saka Raheem Idaoba; Alhaji Ibrahim Adeshina Raheem; former Secretary Alhaji Abdulazeez Alege; Auditor Mallam Jawondo; Financial Secretary Mallam Soliu Adebayo Saka; and Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed, Chairman of IEDPU Yaba Branch.
