The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has commiserated with the Enugu State Ministry of Information and Communication Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Malachy Agbo, over the death of his mother, Mrs. Laurita Nwakaego Agbo (née Ortuanya), describing her as a woman whose life embodied humility, generosity and selfless service to humanity.
Mrs. Agbo reportedly passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu, during a brief illness.
In a condolence letter jointly signed by GOCOP President, Danlami Nmodu, and General Secretary, Sufuyan Ojeifo, the association expressed profound sadness over the loss, while extending heartfelt condolences to Dr. Agbo, his family, and the people of Ohodo community and Amufi village.
GOCOP noted that the late Mrs. Agbo was not only a devoted Catholic and compassionate mother but also a pillar of strength whose philanthropic and community-centred activities positively impacted countless lives.
The body stated that tributes pouring in from family members, friends, associates and community leaders reflected a legacy rooted in deep faith, peaceful disposition and unwavering dedication to the welfare of others.
“We know that her passing leaves a profound vacuum, but we take solace in the enduring impact of her kindness, guidance, and motherly counsel,” the letter stated.
The association also prayed for the repose of her soul and for divine strength for the Agbo family to bear the painful loss.
Earlier, Dr. Agbo, in a statement issued on behalf of the family, announced the passing of the family matriarch, describing her as a respected figure and source of inspiration in Ohodo community and Amufi village.
