A Lagos Fashion Designer, Joseph Ejiro, who was abducted, tortured and forced to pay N185,000 ransom by five policemen attached to Festac police post, in Lagos, has shared his encounter with the rogue cops at the police headquarters today following their arrest yesterday.

After NewsmakersNG reported the crime, the Lagos State commissioner of police, Hakeem Odumosu expressly ordered his men to find the rogue policemen within 24 hours. The feat was accomplished.

Ejiro in a series of tweets also confirmed that the money extorted from him by the policemen had been recovered and returned to him.

Apart from the N185,000, he was forced to transfer to a Unity Bank account belonging to one Ashamo Oluwasola Samuel, the policemen also allegedly collected the N5000 cash he had on him. He, however, did not say if that had also been refunded.

Ejiro said when he was brought face-to-face with the rogue policemen, one of them had asked him if they could still be friends after what they had done to him.

Ejiro said he replied that he could never be friends with evil men and asked him to go make friends with his likes when he gets to prison.

The Lagos State Police Command had also yesterday confirmed the arrest of the cops and the recovery of the money they extorted from the victim.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, while confirming the development, said: “The fashion designer came and we listened to him and the CP gave an order that the policemen should be fished out within 24 hours and that was done. We identified them; we have five of them in custody.

“The fashion designer and the police officers have made statements and we have commenced investigation into the matter. We have recovered the N185,000, which will be handed over to Ejiro.”

Ejiro had gone to make a delivery to his client in Festac on November 21, when he was accosted around the Second Rainbow junction by one of the cops, who said his boss was waiting in a vehicle to see him.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Ejiro alleged that he was pushed into the vehicle and beaten by the cops when he refused to give them his phone, adding that he was asked to pay N500,000 to secure his release.

Ejiro further alleged that he was eventually forced to transfer the sum of N185,000 to an account provided by one of the cops before he was released after spending eight hours in their custody.
