A Financial Analyst and ex-president of the Nigerian Economics Students Association, Covenant University, has been murdered in Lagos.

Segun Afolabi was allegedly murdered by his gateman, in collusion with an unidentified man, in order to steal a car he bought a week earlier.

Reports say the alleged murder accomplice was a neighbour of the 26-year-old victim.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the incident happened on Monday, at the deceased’s residence in Gbagada, Lagos.

The suspects reportedly wrapped the remains of the victim in a duvet and put him in the boot of his own car. Thereafter they dumped the corpse close to the Gbagada General Hospital.

It was gathered that the two were arrested at a police checkpoint in Edo State on Tuesday morning and the vehicle recovered.

A Twitter user, @bimbo_cash, who said she attends the same house fellowship with the deceased, described him as a very brilliant and promising young man.

She wrote: “I know Segun. He attends my neighbors, after church fellowship. The news of his death came two days ago. Segun is a promising, young man. Very brilliant. This guys will never have peace. So sad.”
