A three-time minister during the second term of President Olusegun Obasanjo, Frank Nwekw Jnr, has formally declared his interest in contesting the Enugu State governorship seat on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
56-year-old Nweke was Minister of Youth and Intergovernmental Affairs, Minister of Information and later Minister of Information and Communications.
He was also Director General of the highly influential Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) from 2009 to 2014.
Nweke made his intentions known via a tweet on his handle, @FrankNwekeII, this morning.
He wrote, “It’s time. I step out into destiny this morning as I formally declare my run for the governorship of Enugu State in 2023. I ask for your prayers and best wishes.”
He also disclosed that a formal ceremony to announce his decision would take place today at Ben Hotel Platinum, Independence Layout, Enugu, the state capital.
