The late DCP Akinade Adejobi

The Nigeria Police Force has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Akinade Olusegun Alao Adejobi, a seasoned officer and elder brother of the current Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Breaking the news in an emotional tribute posted on his Facebook page, ACP Adejobi described his late brother as a confidant and a pillar in his life. He wrote:
“I will forever miss you my beloved brother and confidant, Baba Oba, DCP Akinade Olusegun Alao Adejobi. Eki ijamo, omo onigbo dudu, ajoji o gbodo wo. Omo olowu oduru, aji f’epe sere. You have come, you have seen and you have conquered, Akinade. Love you always.”

DCP Akinade Adejobi served in several critical roles during his career, most notably as the Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Cultism Squad at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID). His tenure in Lagos was marked by intense field operations, before he was transferred to Jigawa State in 2017.

Friends, family, and colleagues have continued to pay tribute to the late officer, remembering him as a courageous, disciplined, and passionate law enforcement officer who left a lasting imprint on the Force and everyone around him.

In a condolence message to the family, the President of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), Lekan Olabulo, described the late DCP Adejobi as a dedicated officer whose legacy would live on through the countless lives he impacted.

Olabulo stated: “Those of us who knew him can attest to the fact that he was a selfless servant, whose unwavering commitment and tireless work ethic spoke volumes. His dedication to justice and public service reflected his characteristically amiable nature. We have no doubt that he will be deeply missed by his colleagues, the community he served, and the Nigeria Police Force at large.”
