Four suspected members of the gang that abducted seven commuters on a boat in Lagos last week are now in police net.

NewsmakersNG exclusively reported, on Friday, the kidnap-bid that was foiled by members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and NewsmakersNG now has the exclusive pictures of the suspects who were arrested inside a creek where they were nursing bullet wounds sustained in a gun battle with VGN men.

According to VGN’s deputy commandant in charge of operations in Lagos, Mr Ayede Santos, the four injured suspects were handed over to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, in Ikeja.

NewsmakersNG had reported, on Friday, how the kidnappers initially abducted seven men and two women who were being ferried from a place called Totowu to Isuti in Igando and Ewedogbon on the outskirts of Lagos. They later dropped the women at Agbara junction where the vigilantes were alerted.

Santos told NewsmakersNG that there was a gun duel before the seven victims were rescued and some of their abductors appeared to have escaped with bullet wounds.

The locally made pistol allegedly recovered from the kidnappers.

The gang, however, left behind one locally made pistol, four life jackets, packets of cigarettes; shoes and a laptop, along with the hijacked boat. They were all handed over to the police at Iba Police Post.

Santos said that VGN men who continued to search for the bandits found them after a 3-day siege in the creeks.
