Former Konga CEO Allegedly Commits Suicide in Lagos

Nick Imudia, the former Chief Executive Officer of Konga, one of Nigeria’s prominent e-commerce platforms, has reportedly died by suicide.

Imudia reportedly leaped from the balcony of his apartment in Lekki, Lagos State, on the evening of Tuesday, June 25, 2024. In a series of heartbreaking final calls, he contacted his brother in the United States, providing instructions for the distribution of his wealth, and spoke to his young daughter, assuring her that she would always find him in the sky.

Family, friends, and colleagues are in deep shock, struggling to comprehend why the successful businessman would take his own life. Imudia, who was serving as the CEO of D.light, a leader in residential solar energy solutions, was known for his vibrant personality and professional achievements.

Hailing from the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Imudia’s personal life had seen challenges, including a marriage that ended due to irreconcilable differences. Despite these struggles, those close to him are baffled by his decision to end his life.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. He said, “Yes, it is true. He committed the act on June 25.”
